Electrical safety Proving unit product
Martindale Electric asked Gm Design Development to redesign their existing proving unit product. Although the existing product functioned reliably, it looked very dated and did not reflect the Martindale Electric brand. Our design team created the design for the new PD690SX product.
Martindale Electric’s branding was developed so every product would be instantly recognised as a Martindale Electric product. The aesthetics and form were designed so they could carried through to all new products to create a consistent layout and product range.
PROVING UNIT – CONCEPT GENERATION
This is the original design. We generated initial concepts for the product, considering the electrical testing devices to be used with it.
PROVING UNIT – PROTOTYPE TESTING
We designed the injection moulded components using Creo 3D CAD, developing the design through the design process via SLA prototypes.
PROVING UNIT – MOULDING VALIDATION
We undertook testing and validation of sample mouldings, working with the toolmakers to undertake rectifications to optimise the design.
PROVING UNIT – PRODUCTION SIGN-OFF
Working with the toolmakers, we oversaw the tooling and injection moulding process to deliver the finished product.
